Bike Valet

Bike UNL is offering a free bike valet service during Jazz in June concerts. Individuals attending the concert series can leave bikes at the Bike UNL station by 13th and R streets. Contact information collected at drop off and photo identification will be required to retrieve bikes left at the valet station.

The bike valet service is available from 5 p.m. to one hour after each concert. Failure to collect a bike by one hour after the conclusion of the performer’s final song will result in a $35 handling and storage fee.

Garden Tours

The warm June weather offers the perfect backdrop to tour sites in the UNL Botanical Gardens and Arboretum. Landscape Services and the Department of Facilities Management and Planning run the annual tours, which begin at 6 p.m. at Sheldon’s east entrance.

Historic and Unique Trees on Campus

 

Eileen Bergt, Assistant Director with Landscape Services, will lead a tour of the historic trees on the original four block campus and some of the new and unique trees that have been planted.

New Campus Projects: Love Commons Plaza and Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame

 

Emily Casper, Campus Landscape Architect, will lead a tour of the Love Commons Plaza and Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame. Tour highlights include stormwater mitigation features in the plaza, new plants to campus and design features of the projects.

Historic Campus Continued

 

Kay Logan-Peters, UNL Art and Architecture Librarian, will lead an architectural tour of the first expansion of the UNL campus that will include College of Business Administration, Love Library, Teachers College, Morrill Hall and other historic buildings on campus.

Evolution of Love Garden

 

Ann Powers, Landscape Services Landscape Assistant, and Mark Canney, Park Planner with the City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department, will tour through Love Garden and the 70 year history of the space south of Love Library. Learn more about the first design of the garden, get recommendations of favorite plants from Mark and Ann, and check out the newest plants in the garden.

Yoga

Could there be anything better than relaxing yoga in the summer sunshine?! We invite you to join us for yoga preceding each Jazz in June celebration from 5:306:30pm. UNL Campus Recreation Group Fitness instructors will lead you through a Basic Yoga class, perfect for anyone at any level. Classes will be held in the green space north of the Woods Art Building, and east of Richards Hall. Please bring your own mat or towel and be ready to channel your inner yogi!
